Technical Support: Burning a CD in Windows 7 is easy. Following is the procedure to burn the CD in Windows 7..
First insert a blank disc on your CD/DVD drive. An AutoPlay window will open so choose burn files to disc:
Prompt will appear and this time asking you to choose between the two options of burning. The default is the “mastered” option which lets you burn files traditionally – the burned files are read only files so you will not be able to edit or remove them after burning.
The other option is the “live file system” where you can save files like on a USB flash drive – it means you can save, edit and delete files on the disc anytime. The disadvantage is that it is not compatible with players outside Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. so if you want to burn a disc that you want your XBOX 360 to recognize, burn it using the default mastered option.
In this window, enter the title of the disc then click next. You should see your drive on Explorer with a label that says “drag files to folder…”
Using Windows 7’s side by side snapping view position the window above to the left side and another window to the right side. This way you can see the files being added up as you drag files from the right Internet Explorer window to the left.
Click the “burn to disc button”

If you’re running Windows XP and skipped the Windows Vista update and need a good way to transfer files and settings, today we take a look at using Windows Easy Transfer and an external USB drive to easily complete the task.
Start Windows Easy Transfer
Start with the new Windows 7 machine and go to Start \ Getting Started \ Transfer your files.
Click through the Welcome screen and select “An external hard disk or USB flash drive”
Next choose “this is my new computer”.
Select “I need to install it now” to install Windows Easy Share now so you get the latest updated version. At this point you want to make sure the external drive you want to use is plugged into the Windows 7 machine.

Now choose “External hard disk or shared network folder” to copy the Easy Transfer program to it.
Configure XP Transfer Process
Now over on the XP machine plug in the external hard drive and launch Easy Transfer.
You’re presented with a progress display while it prepares to run.
A Welcome screen is displayed just like on the Windows 7 machine.
Again choose “An external hard disk or USB flash drive”.
After scanning the user accounts and their settings you’re presented with a general list where you can select what to save.
Clicking on the Advanced link allows a much more detailed way to select individual files and folders, when complete click on Save.

You have the option to password protect the Data backup.
A successful save is complete and now time to go back and plug the external drive into the new Windows 7 machine.
Restore Settings
On the Windows 7 machine this time click Yes to this question.
Explorer opens and navigates to the location of the backup on the external drive.
Now you can restore the entire backup or you can chose specific files and folders to restore, save your selection and begin the transfer.
When the transfer is complete you can see a report of what transferred or suggestions for additional programs
Not all programs and settings are going to transfer to your new OS but this definitely makes it easier to transfer compatible program settings, your files, folders and important documents.

Windows Movie Maker has been in every version of Windows since Me... Windows XP and Windows Vista... but it's not in Windows 7.

Microsoft recommends the free download of the the latest Windows Live Suite, which includes Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM) for Vista and Windows 7 (XP doesn't support WLMM). That gets you the newest version, but one considerably slimmed down in features from MM2.1 in XP or MM6 in Vista. It's good for quickly and easily making a video and uploading to YouTube, but not for anything close to the kinds of serious editing you can do with the classic versions of Movie Maker.
MM2.6 has the features to fully edit and produce a video, but it doesn't have the importing feature of MM2.1. For that, you can use the import wizard in the Windows Live Suite.
I've copied MM1 and MM2.1 from my XP system and MM6 from my Vista system, registered the DLLs and they are working fine. But I havn't yet added the thousands of extra 3rd party special effects and transitions that are on my XP and Vista computers.
Importing Video
In addition to the newest version of Movie Maker, the Windows Live Suite includes a video import wizard that works with a mini-DV or digital8 camcorder connected by firewire. MM1 and MM2.1 also work fine to capture video from my mini-DV camcorder, when connected by firewire.
Imported video clips can be browsed in the folders of the Windows LIve Photo Gallery or imported into the collections of the classic versions of Movie Maker.
Starting with no version of Movie Maker in Windows 7, I'm now running with five of them.
Making Video Clips from Still Pix
Photo Story 3 is a favorite of many when it comes to making those neat Ken Burns style video clips from high quality still pictures. First developed for XP, the app downloaded, installed and ran fine on the beta releases of Windows 7. Clips produced can be used in Windows Live Movie Maker or classic Movie Maker projects. But, as I noted above, the final Windows 7 release doesn't support installation of PS3.
